 Why do I get the message ‘failed to connect’ on my pda? You get this error when you are not connected properly to the desktop PC. If you are using Microsoft AvtiveSync to synchronise with the device, then check that ActiveSync is working properly and has turned green. If you want to connect from the device then you need to know the hostname of the PC you are connecting from. If you do not know this then simply connect from the PC at least once. For Symbian UIQ devices you can only connect from the device. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DEVICE IS PROPERLY CONNECTED TO YOUR DESKTOP COMPUTER WITH YOUR DEVICE MANAGER SOFTWARE I.E. ACTIVESYNC OR PC SUITE. It is also important that firewalls are informed not to block the software when asked or prompted.
